WWedding To Do List

Wedding-day timeline example

A practical 4 PM wedding timeline.

This sample includes one venue area, a first look, pre-ceremony wedding-party portraits, a one-hour cocktail period and an evening reception. Add travel, cultural traditions and venue rules before using it.

Anchor the day at 4:00 PM: work backward for getting ready and portraits, then forward for guest movement, dinner, speeches and the final exit.

9:00 AM

Getting ready begins.

Breakfast first; hair, makeup, clothing preparation and detail photography follow. Add more time for a larger group.

1:00 PM

Dress and final personal details.

Everyone needed for dressing should already be ready. Protect a quiet margin instead of planning to the exact minute.

1:30 PM

First look and couple portraits.

Choose a private, nearby location and allow movement time.

2:15 PM

Wedding-party portraits.

Complete as many group photographs as practical before guests arrive.

3:15 PM

Hide, reset and complete ceremony checks.

Seat early guests, confirm the license and rings, and move personal items to assigned people.

4:00 PM

Ceremony.

A 20–30 minute ceremony leaves room for the recessional and guest movement.

4:30 PM

Cocktail period and family portraits.

Use a written family photo list and one person who can gather each group.

5:30 PM

Reception entrance and dinner.

Coordinate food service with introductions, welcome remarks and table release.

7:00 PM

Toasts and featured dances.

Keep the entertainment team, catering lead and photographer on the same sequence.

9:30 PM

Last planned moment.

Schedule the final song, private last dance or exit early enough for venue closing responsibilities.
